WWII WADCA Ambulance Driver Service Jacket. The Women's Ambulance and Defense Corps of America was a civilian volunteer organization formed in November 1940 in Los Angeles to support the U.S. home front during World War II. Members trained as ambulance drivers, chauffeurs, radio operators, and mechanics, with units expanding across Southern California. This specific lady served in Berkeley, as seen with the Berkeley tab on the right sleeve. The tunic is well named and has the WADCA tag and button as well. An amazing piece of women's military and Southern California history that is quite uncommon.
