Hard to Find WWI Ottoman Empire Turkish Kabalak. The kabalak became an official hat of the army under the military reforms in 1908. They saw use throughout the entire war and were then later replaced by the German Stahlhelm. The hat has red piping, possibly indicating a specific branch or unit. Leather and wool construction with a stiff construction for the dome and shape. A very uncommon piece not often seen stateside.
